Mr. Edward R. Langdon, 92, a resident of North Wilkes-Barre, entered into Eternal Life Tuesday afternoon in the care of River Street Manor, where he recently resided.

     Born March 10, 1925 in Hunlock Creek, he was the only son to the late Mary (Hudock) Jensen.  Educated in the Lehman schools, Mr. Langdon attended the former Mott School, the Lake-Lehman High School, later graduating from the former Luzerne High School early to enter the military.

     Following his education, Mr. Langdon proudly served our country during the Second World War with the United States Army.  A combat wounded veteran, he sustained injuries during the Battle of the Bulge.  A marksman, he saw many battles during the war, and at the time of his honorable discharge on April 5, 1946, was the recipient of several honors and citations including the prestigious Purple Heart and Bronze Star with clusters for saving the life of his fellow infantrymen.

     Upon his return stateside, Ed furthered his education by attending Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus for two years, later finishing at main campus for a degree in architecture in 1954.

     In 1965 at the age of 45, he became a registered architect.  Mr. Langdon worked in various architectural firms throughout the Wyoming Valley.  One of his most noteworthy projects was designing Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands, New Jersey. Upon the time of his retirement, he remained active in his profession, often contributing forty hours a week to give aid and counsel to fellow architects.

     A lover of the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and enjoyed bowling in his youth.

     He and his wife, the former Dolores R. Fabian celebrated seventy-three years of married life together on January 20th of this year.

     He held membership in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, Wilkes-Barre, the American Institute of Architecture and the American Legion.

     He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mr. Edward T. Hrencecin on January 25, 2010 and by an aunt, Mrs.  Ann Stockage.

     Left to mourn his passing in addition to his beloved wife Dolores at home are the couple's children, Sandy L. Hrencecin, at home; Edward F. (Bud) Langdon and his wife Pamela of Shavertown; Dr. Richard N. Langdon and his wife Mary of Bear Creek and Mr. Glenn P. Landgon and his wife Lorrie of Liverpool, NY; Ten Grandchildren, Nine Great-Grandchildren, fellow parishioners and dear friends.

     Funeral services for Mr. Langdon will be conducted on Friday with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, 668 North Main Street with the Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, pastor, serving as celebrant and homilist.

     Entombment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton Section of Kingston Township, where military honors will be accorded by officers of the United States Army.

     Relatives and friends may join Mrs. Langdon and her family for visitation and remembrances Friday morning at 10:00 until the time of the funeral Mass directly at the church.
