     Mrs. Eleanor (Dymond) Soltis-Sofranko, 86, a resident of Marion Terrace, Hanover Township, passed into eternal life Thursday evening in the care of Celtic Healthcare Hospice inpatient unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre in the company of her family following an illness.
     Born in Wilkes-Barre on January 2, 1931, she was the only daughter to the late Dewey and Frieda (Shaffer) Dymond.  Educated in the city schools, she was a graduate of the E.L. Meyers High School, and later furthered her education by attaining an associate degree from the former Wilkes-Barre Business College.
     Mrs. Sofranko was a lifelong and active member of Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, where she was a member of the church choir for over seventy-five years.  Active with her faith, she retired as district representative for the Aid Association for Lutherans / Thrivent, serving for many years with local branch #1738.  Prior to that, she was a secretary for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, worked as a sales associate for the showroom at Friedman Electric Supply in Wilkes-Barre, and prior to that, worked for Owens-Illinois in Pittston.  Following her formal retirement, Mrs. Sofranko kept busy, working as a teller in the downtown branch of PNC Bank in Wilkes-Barre.
     She also was active with the Red Hat Society locally.  In her leisure time, she and her late husband enjoyed traveling extensively in ther retirement to Florida, Alaska, Europe including ancestral towns in Slovakia.  Remembered as being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Eleanor was always a gracious lady to all she met.  She took appreciation for the "little things" in life such as warmth and beauty of the sun and loved all of God's magnificent creations.
     She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. John Soltis in 1992.  At the time of Mr. Soltis' passing, the couple shared 41 years of married life together.  She was also preceded by a son-in-law, Mr. Randolph S. (Randy) Yanoshak in 2009, by two brothers Raymond and Arthur Dymond;  by her only daughter, Connie (Soltis) Yanoshak in 2014 and most recently by her second husband of nineteen years, Mr. Andrew (Andy) Sofranko in 2016.
     Left to mourn her passing are her beloved sons and their families, John Soltis and his wife Mary Beth of Sugar Loaf and Andrew Soltis and his wife, Brenda of Limerick;  Grandchildren and their families, including Randy Yanoshak, his wife Maria and thier daughter Annika of Wrentham, Mass., Ryan Yanoshak of the Poconos; Corey Yanoshak, his wife Amy and their children Cole, Ava and Lincoln of Dover, DE; Atty. Jason Soltis, his wife, Atty. Sylvia and their children David and Lydia Eleanor of Washington, D.C.; Reverend Jennifer Soltis of Huntingdon, PA;   Kristen and Julia Soltis of Limerick; Brother, Robert Dymond and his wife Eleanor of Bethel Park, PA; Several nieces, nephews, fellow congregation members and dear friends.
     Funeral services for Mrs. Sofranko will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, 1000 South Main Street, Hanover Township.  The Reverend David Bernard, supply pastor, will serve as celebrant.  Interment with prayers of committal will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, 68 East Saint Mary's Road, Hanover Township.
     Relatives and friends may join the Soltis family Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday directly at church from 10:30 until service time at 11:00.
