Mr. Joseph Paul Rancheck, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, entered into Eternal Life early Saturday morning in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township following an illness.
Born July 9, 1931 in the village of Hertnik, in the former Czechoslovakia, Mr. Rancheck just celebrated his 86th birthday last week.
Educated in the city schools, Mr. Rancheck was a graduate of the former Saint Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre. Following his education, Joseph proudly served our country with both the United States Air Force and later with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict era, being honorably discharged from duties on November 8, 1962.
Previously, he assisted his father in the family's shoe repair business in the Parsons section of the city.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Rancheck in 1986.
Left to mourn his passing are a brother, Francis Rancheck and his wife Janet of Trenton, New Jersey; Sister, Ann Teresa (Terry) Petroski and her husband Len of Shickshinny; Two nieces, Maura Casey and her husband Liam and Lisa Rose and a nephew, Alan Gribble; Several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Rancheck will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, pastor will serve as celebrant and homilist.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Cemetery of Saint Andre Bessette Parish, Dorchester Drive, Dallas.
Relatives and friends may join Mr. Rancheck's family for visitation and remembrances Tuesday morning directly at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral liturgy.
