     Mrs. Dorothy M. (Prushinski) Kolankiewicz, 89, a resident of New Goss Manor, Dallas, entered into Eternal Life Monday morning in the care of Mercy Center, Dallas, where she recently resided.

     Born May 10, 1928 in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Mr. Anthony and Mrs. Viola (Koscinski) Prushinski.  She was educated in the Nanticoke schools.

     Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Kolankiewicz was employed in our area's former garment industry, working with the Hess & Goldsmith Company in the coning department, and later for the Duplan Throwing Mill.  Previously, she also held employment with the former General Cigar Company of Kingston as a wrapper.

     A devoted Catholic, Mrs. Kolankiewicz held membership in Gate of Heaven Roman Catholic Parish, Dallas where she previously served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and more recently at Mercy Center.  She also was active with the Gate of Heaven Altar & Rosary Society and would volunteer her time for fellow residents at Mercy Center.

     She and her late husband, Mr. Lawrence R. (Larry Collins) Kolankiewicz both served as judges of elections in Dallas Township for several years.  At the time of his passing, the couple shared 55 years of married life together.

     In addition to her beloved husband Larry who passed on April 17, 2006, Dorothy was also preceded in death by brothers, Clem, Chester, Edward and Vincent Prushinski and by a sister, Eleanore Prushinski.

     Left to mourn her passing are her sister, Mrs. Phillis Urban and her husband Nestor of Berwick, Sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Koscielski of Dallas; Numerous nieces, nephews, their families and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

     Funeral services for Mrs. Kolankiewicz will be conducted on Thursday morning with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Gate of Heaven Roman Catholic Parish, 40 Machell Avenue, Dallas.  The Reverend Genaro Aguilar, C.S.C., will serve as celebrant and homilist.

     Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Sheatown section of Newport Township.

     Relatives and friends may join Dorothy's family for visitation and remembrances Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass directly at church.

     In lieu of floral tributes, the family would be humbled if those contemplating a memorial donation in her memory, kindly consider her beloved church, Gate of Heaven R.C. Church, 40 Machell Avenue, Dallas, PA 18612 or for her love of animals to the S.P.C.A. of Luzerne County, 524 East Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
