  Mrs. Dorothy E. (Kmetz) Motsko, 89, a resident of Plains Township, fell asleep in the Lord Thursday evening in the care of Celtic Healthcare Hospice at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by her loving family.

  Born December 27, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter to the late Michael and Anna (Yatsko) Kmetz.  Educated locally, she was a member of the 1946 graduating class from the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

     Mrs. Motsko and her husband Paul previously owned and operated Tan and Trim tanning salon in Wyoming for several years.  Prior to that, she worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry.

     Mrs. Motsko was a lifetime member of Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, North Wilkes-Barre.  She is remembered as being a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed the many shopping trips she and her daughter would often take together.

     She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mr. Paul Motsko on January 16, 1994.  Also preceding her were an infant brother, Michael Kmetz, brother Paul Kmetz; Sisters Margaret Kmetz and Irene Mazur.

     Left to mourn her passing is her children, Mrs. Marsha Lee Alu and her husband Tony and Mr. Barry Motsko and his wife Linda, all of Plains Township.  Grandchildren, including Emily Motsko, Jeffrey Alu, and Tanya Alu-Hurst;  Great-grandson, Jack Alu-Hurst;  Sisters, Mrs. Marie Snedden of Staten Island, NY and Mrs. Loretta Cooper of Wayne, NJ; Several nieces, nephews, fellow parishioners and dear friends.

     Funeral services with Panachida for Mrs. Motsko will be private for the family on Monday from the North Main Street location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 625 North Main Street. Friends are welcome to join the family for the Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Church, 695 North Main Street.  The Reverend Michael Kerestes, pastor, will serve as celebrant.

Interment will follow next to her husband in the parish cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas.

In lieu of floral tributes, Dorothy's family would be humbled if those contemplating a memorial contribution in her memory give consideration to the Plains Volunteer Ambulance Association, 90 Maffett Street, Plains Township, PA 18705.
