Mr. Fred Amherst Mummert Jr., 66, a resident of Glen Lyon, formerly of Hanover Township, passed into Eternal Life Sunday morning in the care of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center following an illness.
Born April 24, 1951 in Valley Stream, Long Island, New York, he was the son of the late Fred and Grace (Reese) Mummert Sr.
Following the family's relocation to the Clarks Summit area, he was educated in and graduated from the Abington Heights High School.
Until his retirement from professional duties as a mason, Mr. Mummert was an entrepreneur in the construction industry with focus in masonry, being the owner and operator of Mummert Masonry. He is remembered as being an exceptional stonework mason who was taught by some of the finest Italian stone masons in the area. Left to mourn his passing are his wife the former Barbara A. Trubela of Hanover Township; Sons, Chad A. Mummert and Kyle A. Mummert, both of Nanticoke; Daughter, Brooke Mummert-Campbell and her spouse Courtney of Baltimore, MD; Sister, Linda Shortell of Simi Valley, CA; Nieces and nephews including Grant and Holly Shortell, Richie and Michael Mitchell, Anthony and Jonathan Rizzo, along with several fellow craftsmen and dear friends.
Memorial funeral services for Mr. Mummert will be conducted on Friday evening at the North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 625 North Main Street.
Relatives and friends may join Fred's family for visitation and remembrances Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of his family.
