George Kmetz Jr. Obituary

During the early morning hours of Thursday, September 27th, George S. Kmetz Jr., 56 of Bear Creek Township, drifted off to be the with the Lord in the presence of those he loved.

George lived a full and simple life, born on his birthday in Wilkes-Barre, the only child to the late George S. and Edythe (Galli) Kmetz.

Educated in the city schools, he was a member of the 1979 graduating class of the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.  He furthered his education by attending King's College, Wilkes-Barre and later graduated from the Lincoln Technical Institute of Allentown.

Until his retirement in April of 2017, George was most notably known for being the owner and operator of Two G's Restaurant and Bar in Bear Creek Township.  He also worked for Arctic Air Refrigeration of Mountain Top as a heating, ventilation & air conditioning technician, and previously was self employed in the construction industry, George Kmetz Contracting.

He was a life member of Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, North Wilkes-Barre, and held membership in the Scrub Oak Hunt Club of White Haven and the Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays Club, Coplay.

George loved fishing especially with his dad in Alaska or Canada or on the Hudson and Delaware Rivers with friends.  He often said "If there's anything better than fishing, God kept it to himself".

An avid outdoorsman, George also enjoyed hunting, trap shooting and sporting clays.  A true sports fan, he always rooted for the underdog while adamantly despising the New York Yankees.  He was a lifelong rail enthusiast since his first train layout as a child which grew impressively over the years.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles, cousins and "his girl", Kadie the Cocker.

Left to mourn his passing are his companion, Jessica Johnsen of Wilkes-Barre; his maternal uncle Evo Galli and his wife Joan of Exeter; cousins Stephen Kmetz and his wife Janet of South Carolina and Pauline Makowski of Kingston; Numerous second cousins, former patrons and dear friends.
