Mrs. Maureen A. (Wright) Gdovin, 56, a resident of Ashley, entered into Eternal Life late Wednesday evening in the care of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, following a prolonged illness.
Born May 8, 1961 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter to the late Stanley G. and Ann D. Wright. Educated in the city schools, Maureen was a member of the 1979 graduating class of the G.A.R. Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Until illness caused her early retirement, Mrs. Gdovin was employed as a home health aide for several years. Prior to that, she worked for the former Leslie Fay Company of Plains Township.
Maureen is remembered as being a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She and her husband Thomas A. Gdovin celebrated 27 years of married life together last August 21st.
In her spare time, she was an avid cook who enjoyed making homemade pierogies and spent hours crocheting with her aunt Annie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Susan Sinavage and by her in-laws, Mr. Joseph A. and Mrs. Marilyn L. Gdovin.
Left to mourn her passing along with her beloved husband Tom at home are the couple's daughter, Meganmarie Gdovin of Wilkes-Barre; Brother, Stanley (Zeke) Wright Jr. of Harvey's Lake; Sisters, Ann Marie McAvoy of Dallas, Kathy Fox of Texas and Christine Wright of Florida; Brother-in-Law, John Gdovin and his wife Barbara of Bucks County, Sister-in-Law, Sharon A. Comitz and her husband Thomas of Hanover Township; Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Maureen's family would like to gratefully acknowledge the staffs of C.I.L. Cares; Maxim Healthcare and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and compassion in her final days.
Funeral services for Maureen will be conducted on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from the North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 625 North Main Street followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Robert Bellarmine, corner of Barney and Division Streets. The Reverend Richard J. Cirba, pastor will serve as celebrant and homilist. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may join Maureen's family for visitation and remembrances Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. during which time a vigil service will take place with her uncle, Reverend Mr. Raymond Lenahan, permanent deacon, officiating.
