Mrs. Mildred M. "Millie" (Monchak) Bilski, formerly of Altoona, more recently a resident of Saint Therese Residence in Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life late Monday evening in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township following a lingering illness.

Born August 13, 1933 in Wilkes-Barre, she just celebrated her eighty-fifth birthday a week prior to her passing.  She was the only daughter to the late John and Eva (Drozd) Monchak.  Her education began at the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Parochial School, North Wilkes-Barre.  She then graduated from the former Saint Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre and furthered her education by attending the Wyoming Seminary Business School.

Mrs. Bilski was employed as a professional secretary for the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission first in Harrisburg, and later in Altoona prior to her retirement.

In her spare time, she assisted with the Saint Nicholas all-class reunion committee and held membership with the National Association of Professional Secretaries and the Slovak Catholic Sokols.

She is remembered by those who knew and loved her as being a loving aunt, a wonderful cook and baker who often shared her many culinary creations with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. John Bilski in 1998.  At the time of Mr. Bilski's passing, the couple shared forty-one years of married life together.

Left to mourn her passing, are several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Her family would like to take this opportunity to gratefully acknowledge the caring staff at Saint Therese Residence as well as the personnel in the emergency department and progressive care unit at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center for the attention and comfort they showed their Aunt Millie in her final days.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bilski will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Mass in Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston.  The Reverend Monsignor John J. Sempa, pastor will serve as celebrant and homilist.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join Mrs. Bilski's family for visitation and shared remembrances Friday afternoon from 12 noon until the time of services directly at church.

In lieu of floral tributes, those desiring to give a monetary donation in her memory, kindly consider a contribution to Saint Therese Residence, 260 South Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.

The North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc. is honored to care for Aunt Millie and her family at this time.
