Though I did not know Ryan for very long, it was indeed a pleasure to meet him, and family and friends as well, during the last few months of his life. I am especially thankful for opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Ryan, and to pray with him and for him. Even under very difficult circumstances, Ryan was always receptive to a pastor he had never met or heard of until I showed up unannounced to his PVPMC room one day.

As God comforted Ryan, I pray that that same comfort in Christ Jesus, crucified and risen, would be with his family and friends in the days and years ahead.

In Jesus,
Rev. Peter A. Richert

Ryan, you will be missed dearly. You were truly one of the best people I had the privilege to work with while at West Point. Your sense of humor, work ethic and passion for all you did was tribute to your character. May you rest in peace.

To Ryan's family and friends, my condolences at your loss -- as well as ours. I had only communicated professionally with Ryan from afar but that he was held in high regard by many people was obvious. I hope you are comforted by that support...

Randy and Corey,
If there's anything I could do, please reach out. I can't say how sad I am right now and can only imagine what you are feeling. He was a wonderful human being. I told him that many times. I only wish he reached out to me when he was diagnosed. He was 20 minutes from me. I would have done anything I could to help him. But, he never wanted to be a bother, even when we lived 2 minutes from each other in Danville.

We got to know Shak at the hockey games at West Point. He appreciated our bringing him homemade goodies which we had to "sneak" pass the entrance folks because you can't bring food into the arena. Recently emailed him and received a wonderful response back--so sorry to hear of your loss. We thought he was one great guy!!

1st and foremost godspeed to you all. Ryan was my son Kevin boss at Pocono Raceway and I was fortunate enough to know your brother and he had a very positive effect on my son. A true gentleman and was well respected by my son. My deepest condolences.
