Sara Howey Obituary

Mrs. Sara (Walters) Howey, 46, a resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed into eternal life just before midnight Monday, December 16th in the care of Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit Dunmore.  Sara had fought a brave and six year battle with several forms of cancer.

Born in Clarks Summit, she was the daughter of Harold Walters of Clarks Summit and Carol (Corker) Walters of Scranton.  Educated in the Clarks Summit schools, she was a graduate of the Abington Heights High School, Class of 1991.  Sara furthered her education towards her vocation by attaining her Associates degree in nursing from the Pennsylvania State University Scranton Campus.

Until illness caused her early retirement, Sara was employed as a registered nurse in several departments of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.  Prior to that, she worked again in several nursing capacities for Commonwealth Health's Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for several years.

She is remembered as being a dedicated nurse.  Moreover, Sara was known as being a loving devoted mother and grandmother to her adoring family.

Sadly, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Roy Steven Howey on May 18, 2014, having shared several years of married life together at the time of his passing.

Left to hold onto the wonderful memories she leaves behind, in addition to her parents are her beloved children, Calieb Howey, Elizabeth Howey, both at home; Marissa White and her husband Brian of Mountain Top, and the apple of her eye, her granddaughter, Amelia White;  Sister, Auri Walters of Olyphant; Several co-workers and dear friends.

Memorial funeral services will be conducted Friday evening, December 27th from the North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 625 North Main Street at 6:30 p.m.
