      Mr. Wayne A. Davis, 77, a resident of Wilkes-Barre and Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16th with his wife, Barbara at his side in Land O Lakes, Florida following a recent illness.

     Born January 6, 1941 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son to the late John Owen Davis and Charlotte (Roberts) Davis.  Educated in the city schools, Wayne was a member of the 1958 graduating class of the E.L. Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre.

     Following his formal education, he proudly served our country with the U.S. Army 109th Field Artillery for four years.  He then began his career in construction as an electrical journeyman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #163.  After assisting with the rebuilding of greater Wilkes-Barre following the Agnes flood of 1972, Wayne then started what would become a thirty-year employment with the Bechtel Power Corporation.  He served as an electrician and supervisor in nuclear power plants across the nation.  At the time of his retirement from professional duties in 2006, he was recognized with numerous awards for the quality of his work and the safety records of his crews.

     Fraternally, Wayne served as Past Master of the Masonic Brotherhood Lodge #61 both in 1973 and 1980, respectively.

     His priority throughout his entire life was providing for his family.  His did whatever it took to make sure the family enjoyed a high quality of life, which included fully funding his sons' college educations at Penn State University.

     He and his wife, the former Barbara A. Hoats, celebrated fifty-four years of married life together on May 30th of this year.

     In retirement, Wayne enjoyed regular golfing outings with friends at his residence in Florida and remained involved in home renovations with his sons both in Florida and New Jersey. 

     Left to mourn his passing in addition to his beloved wife Barbara at home are the couple's sons, Wayne Clifford Davis and his wife Annmarie Davis of Cinnaminson, New Jersey and John Owen Davis and his partner Joshua Haddad of Tampa, Florida; Sister, Mrs. Marsha Dunlap and her husband Richard of Bloomsburg and brother Mr. John Davis and his wife Edith of Wilkes-Barre; Several nieces, nephews, fellow Masons and dear friends.

     Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be conducted on Sunday, August 5th from the Wilkes-Barre Heights location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 281 East Northampton Street, with Masonic Services beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service with his nephew, Reverend Richard Dunlap, officiating.

     Interment will be private and at the convenience of the Davis family.

     Relatives and friends are invited to join Wayne's family for visitation and remembrances and to honor the life of a husband and father who will be greatly missed on Sunday from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
