Ms. Altagracia Perdomo, 99, a resident of Division Street, South Wilkes-Barre, formerly of New Jersey, passed into Eternal Life Holy Saturday in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, shortly after admission.
Born October 22, 1920 in the Dominican Republic, she was a daughter to the late Federico and Francisca (Moronta) Perdomo and was educated in the Dominican schools. She worked in the Dominican garment industry during her youth as a seamstress.
Her family later immigrated to the United States, settling in New Jersey where she would take employment as a sewing machine operator in the shoe industry.
Ms. Perdomo is remembered by those who knew and loved her as being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother to her four generations of children. Her gentle ways will be greatly missed by all those she touched in this life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Oscar Ortega in 1994. Also preceding her were a son, Manuel Ortega and sons-in-law, Ricardo Vargas, Mauel Cabrera and Jerry Nepaul.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories they have of their mother are her beloved children, Rafael Perdomo and his wife Maria of the Dominican Republic; Natividad Vargas of Patterson, NJ; Senia Ortega of Patterson, NJ; Maria A. Ortega and her husband Venardo Osser of Wilkes-Barre; Olivia Cabrera of Lake Hiawatha, NJ; Daisy Ortega of Patterson, NJ: Eddy Ortega and his wife Maria of Wilkes-Barre, with whom she recently resided and Lucy Ortega of Florida; Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Perdomo of the Dominican Republic; Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Private graveside services with prayers of committal were conducted in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township. There were no formal visitation hours.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc. of Wilkes-Barre.
