Mrs. Anna Gavlick, 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2022, following a brief illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Kerechanin Sochko.
Anna was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School. During World War II, she was employed at the Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey, saving a job for a returning service member.
Upon returning to the area, she was employed by Central Slipper in Wilkes-Barre until its closing.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, John; her brothers Michael, John and Peter and sisters; Mary Kane, Helen Sologovitch and Julia Sochko.
She is survived by her sisters, Marge Dorzinsky and Dorothy D'Arco. She is also survived by her son, John and wife Gladys, Berwick and daughter Sandie and husband Dr. Dominic Castrignano, Shavertown; Four grandchildren; Four great-granddaughters; a great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anna's family would like to thank the staff at River View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Mercy Center for their exceptional care.
To honor Anna's wishes, her funeral liturgy and burial were attended privately by her family.
