It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Carol Joy (Minnick) Sekel. Mrs. Sekel, 82, passed from this life into her Lord’s arms, early the morning of Tuesday, November 11th.
Born on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 1942 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter to the late Stephen Minnick, Margaret (Lehet) Minnick-Kerestes and George Kerestes.
Educated in the local schools she was a 1960 graduate of the former Wilkes-Barre Township Memorial High School.
Previously a dedicated sales associate, Carol was well-known for her warm spirit and genuine compassion. She proudly made her mark in the cosmetics departments of several prominent area department stores, including Isaac Long’s, Lazaurs, Pomeroy's, and the Bon Ton. With each encounter, she greeted her customers with a bright smile and an unparalleled commitment to enhancing their self-esteem. Carol had a unique talent for suggesting shades that complemented her customers' individual beauty, leaving a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
She was a lifelong and devoted member of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre. Here she held membership in the Dorcas Guild and sang in the church choir. She and her late husband Dan, for several years coordinated the annual church picnic at the congregation's grove in Nuangola.
Her greatest joys were being a loving and devoted wife, mother and Nana to her adoring family. She will be greatly missed not only by her family but by the countless people she touched in this life.
May she rest peacefully now in the joy of Our Lord.
