Catherine A. “Kitty” (Loftus) Kerrigan

Mrs. Catherine A. "Kitty" Kerrigan, 87, a resident of Hanover Township, entered into Eternal Life peacefully Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in the comfort of her home with her family at her side.

Kitty was born on Monday, April 20, 1936, in Wilkes-Barre, the last of ten children to the late Frank and Mary (Youngblood) Loftus. She was raised and educated in Wilkes-Barre, becoming a 1954 graduate of the former  Saint Mary's High School.

She started her career as an office manager;  working some fifty years with Service Electric Cable Television Company in the Wilkes-Barre offices.  She later assisted and became well-known at her son Patrick’s medical office, the Hart Medical Center on Hazle Avenue in Wilkes-Barre since its inception. Over the years, Kitty belonged to many organizations both in her parish; Our Lady of Fatima at Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception, as well as in the community. She was a life member of the parish’s  altar and rosary society and the former Parent-Teacher Association at Saint Mary’s.  She also held membership in the Catholic Youth Center’s Century Club; Women in Cable Television; the Pennsylvania Cable Television Association;  The Women’s Airforce Auxiliary and the Wyoming Valley Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

In her spare time, Kitty loved rooting for Notre Dame and Navy football;  watching NCIS and Jag on TV;  John Wayne and Elvis Presley movies; visiting Hershey, Pennsylvania and especially   being with her two dogs; Harvey and Petey.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Patrick J. Kerrigan, Sr AT2, USN; siblings: Naomi Loftus, Frank Loftus, James Loftus, Anna Mae Kendra, Mary Theresa Cooper, Elizabeth Loftus, Donald Loftus, Charles Loftus and Geraldine Rogers.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dr. Patrick J. Kerrigan and his wife, Dawn of Hanover Township; grandchildren: Alexander Worosilla, and Gillian Worosilla; sister-in-law, Molly Kerrigan; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

The Kerrigan Family would like to express their deepest and  heartfelt thanks to Teona Manzula, her loving and devoted caregiver; Mary Erwine and Joyce Pribula for their support; as well as Kim, Aprile and Sierra from Aveanna Home Health for their kindness and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 134 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation and shared remembrances directly at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township.
