During the early afternoon on Friday, November 29, 2004, Mr. Daniel C. Scalzo, 67, a resident of Dallas, passed from this earthly realm into eternal life as a patient of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, following a prolonged illness with his beloved wife Arla at his side.
Born on Saturday, August 10, 1957 in Binghamton, New York, he was one of eight children to the late Joseph and Betty Jane (Sobbry) Scalzo. He was a graduate of the Blue Ride High School, New Milford, Susquehanna County. He later furthered his education by taking college courses at the Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke.
For the majority of his professional career, Daniel worked as a meat manager for the former Acme Markets. He then worked for Bevaco Custom Cut Meats, later retiring from Procter and Gamble, Mehoopany in the paper products division.
In his spare time, and enjoying home improvement projects, Daniel was skilled in do-it-yourself electrical, plumbing and general home repairs and remodeling.
Devoted to his Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of Gate of Heaven Parish in Dallas.
This time of year held a special meaning for him and his wife Arla; as they first met, were engaged and married at Christmastime. At the time of his passing, the couple shared almost thirty-seven years of married life together, being wed on December 26, 1987.
Besides his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Scalzo Jr. and a sister, Nancy DeShay.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they keep of him in addition to his beloved wife Arla at home are his siblings; James Scalzo and his wife Brenda of Melbourne, FL; Mark Scalzo and his wife Cathy of Windsor, NY; Douglas Scalzo and his wife Dottie of Ashville, N.C.; Barbara Adams and her husband Gary of Manning, S.C.; Susan Mondolfi and her husband Paul of Windsor, N.Y.; Numerous nieces, nephews, former co-workers and dear friends.

Perry of Mercy Center, Dallas, officiating. Entombment will follow in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township.
