The afternoon of Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Mr. David Anthony Kozup, 66, fell asleep in the Lord while in the care of HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, Port Charlotte.
He is remembered by those who knew and loved him to be a man of deep faith; he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and would spread the Good News of the Gospels to all he would meet. His love of God was first and foremost in his life.
Dave was a master woodworker, craftsman and carpenter for 45 years who attributed his talents in his trade to the master carpenter of us all, Jesus Christ. He thoroughly took pride in his trade with passion. He was meticulous with his work and would often patiently take time to teach his skills to his apprentices.
Some standout examples of his exemplary work are at the Shaker Village in Enfield, New Hampshire and the Norman Rockwell Museum in New York.
Dave was also a very loving and devoted husband to his beloved wife Audrey. They shared 23 wonderful years together with the majority of that time living in Southwest Florida. It was there they built a beautiful life together, making many wonderful friends.
His kindness to others was one of his trademarks. It has been said that no matter where David went in life, even if simply to the local store for an item, people would instantly recognize him and take time to visit with him as his persona was so likable and caring. He truly will be missed by all those he touched in this life.
Besides his parents, Edward, who passed in 1990 and Helen who passed in 1991, David was preceded in death by brothers Daniel Kozup in 2021 and Joseph Kozup in 2022. He also was preceded by a nephew, Howard Harrigan in 2014.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they keep of him in addition to his wife Audrey at home are children; Jacklyn "Jackie" Kozup (Jerry); step-sons; Anthony English (Ashley); Matthew English (Nicole); Adoring grandchildren; Michael Corrette, Anthony Lucas English and Emersyn Benson; Brother, Edward Kozup and his wife Janet of Hampton, NJ; Five sisters; Theresa Greninger and husband Dennis of Castlebury, FL; Christine Harrigan and husband Howard of Orlando, FL; Ann Carlson and husband Ron of Belvidere, NJ; Kathleen Cremone and husband Ralph of Edison, NJ; Karen Eible and husband Thomas of Lopatcong, NJ; Brother--in-law, Paul Pukatch of Wilkes-Barre; Sisters-in-law; Gail Pukatch also of Wilkes-Barre; Mary Ellen MacDonald and husband Brad of Waverly Hall, GA; Diane Estock and husband David of Larksville; Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, former clients and many dear friends.
Memorial funeral services for David will be held on Saturday, November 2nd with a Parastas Service at 11:00 a.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
The Reverend Mykhaylo Prodanets, pastor of Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre Township; assisted by cantor Stephen Kozich, will serve as celebrant.
Inurnment will follow in Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas.
Relatives and friends may join Audrey and the family for a time of visitation and shared remembrances at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of floral tributes, Audrey would be humbled if those wishing to make a monetary donation in David's memory, kindly give consideration to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation; the Wounded Warriors Project or Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Information for these three wonderful charities is listed below.
