Mr. David M. Lechak, 74, a resident of Second Avenue, Kingston, passed into Eternal Life Friday morning, October 15, following a recent illness while a patient in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born December 15, 1946 in Larksville, he was a son to the late John Martin and Helen Mary (Wargo) Lechak. Educated in the West Side schools, Mr. Lechak was a member of the 1965 graduating class of the former Kingston High School.
Following his formal education, he proudly served our country for four years with the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War. He earned the rank of corporal upon the time of his honorable discharge from military duties on September 8, 1969. Later in life, he attended the Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke towards advancement in his career.
Until his retirement, Mr. Lechak was employed by the Department of Veterans' Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre as a nursing assistant for some forty-two years
Spiritually, he was of the Catholic faith while fraternally, he held membership in the Kingston Post #283 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his spare time and being a lover of music, he was an accomplished saxophonist.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his fraternal twin younger brother, Mr. Dennis Paul Lechak of Medura, CA; Several nieces, nephews and dear friends, including Mr. Raymond C. Meoni and his companion, Ms. Maria Palumbo of Hudson.
Per David's previous wishes, there will be no public visitation. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of his family from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc. of Wilkes-Barre.
