Diane (Schaefer) Novak

     Ms. Diane (Schaefer) Novak, a resident of Edwardsville, formerly of South Wilkes-Barre, passed peacefully into Eternal Life early Thursday morning in Allied Services Hospice Inpatient Unit Wilkes-Barre, following a recent illness.

     Born on Saturday, June 17th, 1950, Diane recently celebrated her seventy-second birthday.  She was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Kearn) Schaefer and was raised in the Catholic faith.

    Educated in the city schools, Diane was a member of the 1968 graduating class of the former Elmer L. Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre.

     In her youth, she previously held employment with the Wilkes-Barre office of the Social Security Administration.  She also assisted for several years in the family business, Schaefer's Seafood Restaurant, formerly of Mountain Top.

     One of her favorite past-times was simply being in the company of her dear friends.  Above all else, Diane is most remembered as being a loving, devoted mother and grandmother to her adoring family.  Her family, especially her grandchildren, meant the world to her.  She will be greatly missed by her son, Jerry Novak and his wife Kathy of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; The apples of her eye, her grandchildren Ashleigh and Jacob Novak; Brother Gordon Schaefer and his companion, Joyce Savage of Forty-Fort; Her long-time companion of fifteen years, Robert Jagerman, at home; Cousin Donna McAdarra of Wilkes-Barre and several dear friends.

     Per Diane's previous request, funeral services will be held privately and at the convenience of her family with no formal visitation.
