Mr. Edward Marshalla, 84, a resident of Pringle, passed peacefully into eternal rest Wednesday, October 26th in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a recent illness.
Born on March 11, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre, he was one of three children to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Vajda) Marshalla. Educated in the city schools, he was a 1956 graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Mr. Marshalla was employed as an electrician for many years by the Frank Snow Electric contracting company formerly of Edwardsville. Edward then took employment with the Pennsylvania American Water Company, from which he retired.
He was a lifelong and dedicated member of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre. At Saint Matthew he served as an usher and was always willing and ready to volunteer his time and talents when needed. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Above all else, Ed is remembered as being a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his adoring family. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him in this life.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Mr. Michael Marshalla on January 2, 2018. He, himself, was called home by Almighty God on the fifty-fourth anniversary of his marriage to the former Ellen L. Sekel.
In addition to his beloved wife Ellen at home, his memory will be forever cherished by his daughters, Mary Elizabeth Rajnik and her husband Mike of Mount Airy, Maryland and Rebecca Kalmanowicz and her husband Jeffrey of New Freedom, PA; as well as his loving grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth Rajnik; Andrew, Kate and Lauren Kalmanowicz. They were his pride and joy. He also leaves his sister, Mrs. Mary Hricko of Kingston, Several dear nieces, nephews; their families, and several close friends.
Mrs. Marshalla and her family would like to gratefully acknowledge Edward’s caregivers, Dolores and Cheryl as well as the staff of Allied Home Services and the nursing staff of General Hospital’s intensive care unit for the exceptional care and concern each has shown to all of them, especially during his final days.
Funeral services for Mr. Marshalla will be conducted on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, followed by church services at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 663 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
