Mr. Edward R. Peplinski, 96, formerly of Plains Township and Nanticoke, passed into Eternal Life late the evening of Thursday, March 20th while in the care of Allied Meade Street Skilled Nursing Unit, Wilkes-Barre, following a prolonged illness.
Born on Friday, November 9, 1928 in Nanticoke, he was one of seven children to the late Leo and Josephine (Sontowski) Peplinski. Mr. Peplinski was educated in the Nanticoke schools, and later attended trade school toward his future vocation.
Following his formal education, Mr. Peplinski proudly served our country with the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge from military duties on December 14, 1977, he remained active with the United States Naval Reserves Center in Avoca, offering to some forty-two years of dedicated service overall.
Devoted to his Catholic faith, he held membership in the Parish of Saints Peter & Paul, Plains Township.
Mr. Peplinski is remembered as being a family man of quiet demeanor. He was a loving devoted husband, father and grandfather to his adoring family who will miss his physical presence in their lives.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Henrietta White; by brothers, John, Leo, Theodore and Henry Peplinski; by a granddaughter, Sarah Johnson; by his beloved wife, the former Mary (Blizman) Peplinski on December 8, 2021. At the time of Mrs. Peplinski's passing, the couple shared fifty-five years of married life together.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Edward J. Peplinski and his wife Michelle of Hanover Township; Mary Geise and her husband Ronald of Moosic; Donna Peplinski of Hanover Township; Grandchildren, Emily Peplinski and her companion, Dai Truong along with Hunter Geise; Brothers, Stanley Peplinski of Meshoppen; Sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Blizman of North Wilkes-Barre; Several nieces, nephews including Mary Blizman also of North Wilkes-Barre; great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Peplinski will be conducted on Tuesday, March 25th with his Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Parish, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Township. The Reverend John C. Lambert, pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist. Military honors by the United States Navy will be accorded immediately following Mass.
Private family interment will be in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Sheatown section of Newport Township.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Peplinski family directly at church Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
