Obituary

Edward E. Pugh, 55, of St. Mary Street, Plains Twp., passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp., surrounded by his family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, April 3, 1967, he was the son of the late Fran and Winifred Saraka Pugh. He grew up in the North End, Wilkes-Barre, playing Little League baseball. Eddie graduated in 1985 from James M. Coughlin High School and Wilkes-Barre VoTech. He was a member of the wresting team in high school.

He was employed as an auto body technician by Napleton Wyoming Valley, working on cars his entire life. His true passion was hunting and fishing. He got the greatest joy in taking his children, nieces and nephews hunting and fishing and showing them the process of "harvesting their game." Eddie was the family gardener, avid NASCAR and Pittsburg Penguins fan, but his greatest joy was spending time with the family camping and lending a hand on all projects. He had joy coaching the girls in softball but even greater joy watching them play field hockey and his son's basketball games.

He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, North End Slovak Club, Henry Citizens Club and Dart League, Plains American Legion.

Eddie was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family that loves him dearly. He was a selfless man.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Fran and Winifred Pugh; and nephew, Joey Pugh.

Eddie was the most loving and devoted husband, father and brother.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Watkins, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage; daughters, Madison and Jordan; and son, Cooper, all at home; brothers, Thomas Pugh (fiancée, Michelle Franko); Fran and Colleen Pugh; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary and Beth Zingaretti; Todd and Jeanne Rought; John and Kathy Watkins; father-in-law, John Watkins; nieces and nephews, Dennis, Emma, Francis, Megan, Brian, Kevin, Austin, Amber, Adam, Kristin, Paige, Allison and Johnny; the family cats; and beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to our family and friends who provided support throughout his brief illness. Also, heartfelt thank you to the ICU team at Geisinger for their compassionate care.

The funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday from John V. Morris Family Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. to service time.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Plains Volunteer Ambulance Association, 90 Maffett St., Plains Twp., PA 18705.
