We are saddened to announce the passing of a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Esther J. (Vogt) Wood, 81, formerly of Westmoreland County and Wilkes-Barre Township, passed into the arms of our Lord early the morning of Thursday, April 23, 2026 while in the care of Allied Services Center City Skilled Nursing Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Born on Monday, November 6, 1944 in East Brady, Clarion County, she was one of six children to the late Homer and Thelma (Seybert) Vogt.
Educated in the Clarion schools, she was a 1962 graduate of the Derry Area High School, Derry.
Mrs. Wood was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, PA.
Prior to her formal retirement, Mrs. Wood served as the contract coordinator for the Stuart Medical Supply Company for several years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, making heartfelt greeting cards and was an avid baker.
She and her husband, Mr. Alan W. Wood III recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary on February 5th of this year.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister Betty Jean Vogt and by brothers John, Homer Jr. and Kenneth Vogt.
Left to cherish her memory in addition to her beloved husband Alan are the couple's children, Alan Wood IV and his wife Julia of Auburn Township, Ohio and Kerry Casarella along with her husband Rocco of White Haven; Grandchildren, Graycen Wood-Hill and her husband Landon, Alan Wood and Tori Casarella; Brother, Richard Vogt of Meyersdale, PA; Several nieces, nephews, fellow congregation members and dear friends.
Memorial funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, May 16th from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Relatives and friends may join the family for visitation and shared remembrances Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
