Frances Suchar Obituary

Mrs. Frances Teresa (Sudol) Suchar, 102, a resident of North Wilkes-Barre, passed peacefully into Eternal Life in the comfort of her home with her son at her bedside.  She had just completed reciting the Rosary with her son.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on July 23, 1918, she was the eldest of six children to the late Mark and Anna (Panek) Sudol.  Educated in the city schools, she was a graduate of the former George W. Guthrie School, and later attended the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

She left her studies early to assist the family by entering the workforce at a young age.  Her employment began in the dietary department of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.  Later, she was employed in the local cigar wrapping industry in Kingston until finally retiring from a hosiery factory in North Wilkes-Barre after many years of service.

In her spare time, Mrs. Suchar loved to crochet, was a wonderful cook and baker, especially of ethnic Polish dishes and was an avid baseball fan.  She especially loved to watch the New York Mets.  Above all these things she is best remembered as being a wonderfully loving and devoted mother, sister and aunt to her family, who will greatly miss her presence in their lives.

Devoted to her Catholic faith, Mrs. Suchar held membership in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, North Wilkes-Barre where she had the distinction of being the eldest parishioner at the time of her passing.

Mrs. Suchar was preceded in death by her siblings, Miss Emily A. Sudol in 2009; Mr. Edward Mark Sudol in 2010; Mr. Stanley J. Sudol in 2013; Miss Stephanie A. Sudol in 2015; and by her brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Rubright in 2002.

Left to cherish the many dear memories they hold of her are her beloved son and caregiver, Mark G. Suchar, at home; Sister, Mrs. Josephine (Jo) S. Rubright of Rochester, N.Y. and her children, Michael Rubright and his wife Kathy of Ontario, N.Y.; Susan Rubright of Rochester, N.Y. and Paul Rubright of Manhattan, Montana; their families, fellow parishioners and dear friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Suchar will be conducted on Thursday, with her funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.  The Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, her pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Diocesan Cemetery, 612 Mount Olivet Road, Wyoming.

Relatives and friends may join Mark for visitation and shared remembrances Thursday morning directly at church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Those in attendance are required to wear protective face coverings while funeral home personnel will assist with spatial seating requirements.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations would be appreciated in Mrs. Suchar's memory to her church, the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705.

The North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., are honored to care for Mrs. Suchar and her family at this time.
