Gertrude Kostelnick Obituary

Mrs. Gertrude E. "Trudy" (Wachs) Kostelnick, a resident of Dallas, fell asleep in the Lord Friday morning, January 22nd while in the care of Residential Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, following a recent illness.

Born July 15, 1934 in Pittston, she was one of two daughters to the late Albert and Catherine (Stortz) Wachs.  After the family's relocation, she was educated in the Wilkes-Barre city schools, graduating from the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre.

She later attended the former Diane Vispi Modeling Agency of Kingston for several years.

In her youth, Trudy was employed by the former A&P Markets throughout the Wyoming Valley.

Mrs. Kostelnick was a member of Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, North Wilkes-Barre, and was a frequent Communicant at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, Harvey's Lake.

She held membership in the senior citizens' clubs of the Teamsters Local #401 of Wilkes-Barre and #229 of Scranton for many years.

Mrs. Kostelnick was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Peter P. Kostelnick on October 14, 2015.  At the time of his passing, the couple shared sixty-two years of married life together.  Also preceding her was her sister, Mrs. Catherine Wasilewski.

Trudy will be remembered by those who knew and loved for her quick wit, lengthy conversations and warm personality.  She will be missed by all those she touched in this life.

Relatives and friends wishing to attend Mrs. Kostelnick's funeral services are invited to assemble in the parking area of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home, Inc., 625 North Main Street Wilkes-Barre no later than 10:30 a.m. to join her funeral cortege to the cemetery.
