Mr. Glenn George Yanik, Esquire, 72, formerly of New Goss Manor, Dallas, passed into Eternal Life the evening of Friday, December 13th while under hospice care at Malta House, Hyattsville, Maryland.
Born on Friday, July 4, 1952 in Wilkes-Barre, he was one of four children to the late George T. and Rita (Kriso) Yanik.
Educated in the city schools, he was a 1970 graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. Excelling in athletics, particularly football, he then earned a four year scholarship toward his bachelor's degree from Princeton University in 1974. Attorney Yanik furthered his education toward his vocation by attaining a Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University School of Law, Washington, D.C. in 1977.
While working in Washington, D.C., he served honorably at the Department of Justice for five years before returning to Wilkes-Barre to care for his parents.
Attorney Yanik spent over forty years serving the community as an elder law attorney. He formally retired from his professional tenure in 2023.
Despite his keen knowledge of the law and having a sense of helping those who called upon him, his true passion was his deep-rooted faith. Attorney Yanik was not only well-known and respected professionally; he was previously very active at his parish community, Gate of Heaven in Dallas. There he served as a lector for weekend Mass; served on the parish council and was also instrumental in the Diocesan Men's Conference for the Diocese of Scranton. He likewise was a devoted member of the People of God Covenant Community in Nanticoke; where he focused on praise, worship and evangelization. Fraternally, he held the honor of being a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Attorney Yanik also hosted informative end of life seminars at Misericordia University in Dallas; one of which this funeral director was both humbled and honored to have been asked to participate as a speaker.
In his spare time, he relished spending time with his family and could often be seen rooting for his beloved Notre Dame and Washington Redskins football teams.
Above all else, faith and family were the cornerstones of Glenn's life, and he proudly shared this Good News with those he met. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He and his wife, the former Marianne Hogan celebrated forty-seven years of married life together, being wed on Saturday, March 12, 1977 in Washington, D.C.
Besides his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by both brothers, George M. and Gary Yanik.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they keep of him now in addition to his beloved wife Marianne, also a resident of Malta House, are the couple's children including: Julie Machione and her husband Lawrence of Westminster, MD; Christopher Yanik and his wife Amber of Brunswick, GA; Joseph Yanik and his wife Lauren of Mechanicsburg, PA; Francis Yanik and his wife Jessica of Shavertown; Mary Gannon and her husband Brian of Mount Airy, MD; John Yanik of Hyattsville, MD; Moira Yanik of Frederick, MD; Robert Yanik and his wife Kathryn of Silver Spring, MD; Anne Kresge and her husband Luke of Dalton, PA; Twenty-One grandchildren, Molly Machione, Joseph Machione, Brayden Yanik, Brice Yanik, Philip Gannon, Maryn Machione, Teresa Yanik, Andrew Yanik, Maureen Gannon, Julianne Gannon, Kamden Yanik, Kylie Yanik, Harper Yanik, Emily Yanik, Ellianna Yanik, Peter Gannon, Angela Gannon, Ava Yanik, Clare Yanik, Isaiah Kresge and James Gannon; Sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Luchetti and her husband John of Hampstead, N.C.; Several nieces, nephews, cousins, former clients, fellow parishioners and dear friends.

Hvozdovic, pastor, will serve as celebrant and the Reverend Mr. John Jorda, permanent deacon, will serve as homilist.
