Jean Switzer-Kienzle Obituary

Mrs. Jean M. (Crop) Switzer Kienzle, 79, a resident of Ashley, passed peacefully into Eternal Life Friday evening with her family at her bedside, following a recent illness.

Born on Monday, May 29, 1944 in Kingston, she was one of two daughters to the late Harold and Helen (Mushalla) Crop and was raised in the Catholic faith.  She was educated in the local schools.

Prior to her formal retirement, Mrs. Kienzle was employed in the environmental services department of the former Mercy Hospital, South Wilkes-Barre for a number of years.  Previously in her youth, she served as a licensed practical nurse while the family was residing in New Jersey.   Socially, she formerly held membership in the Red Hat Society for several years.

In her spare time, she loved to sew, cook and was an excellent baker; who thoroughly enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends over the years.  She especially enjoyed her romantic comedies on the Hallmark Channel, and faithfully watching the daily episodes of General Hospital.  Above all, Jean is best remembered as being a wonderful, loving and caring mother to the three generations of children she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. Robert Switzer Sr. and by her second husband, Mr. Joseph Kienzel.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children; Denise Williams and her husband Brian of Nanticoke; Robert Switzer Jr. and his wife Brandy of Nescopeck; John Switzer, and James Switzer along with his wife Jennifer Malloy, all of Ashley;  Seventeen grandchildren including Jacob Switzer, Rachael Switzer, Brian Rivera, Kyle Koviack, Brandon Williams, Alisha Smith, Maurice Smith, Devon Smith, Logan Smith, Jackson Smith, Gabrielle Switzer, David Switzer, Kayla Switzer, Timothy Malloy, Jacob Dobson, James Switzer Jr. and Ryan Rudnitskas;  Six great-grandchildren; Alex Rivera, Robbie Rivera, Mackenzie Rivera, Daniel Riach, Maddison Koviack and Evangeline Wimbush;  Sister, Mrs. Geri George of Ashley and her sons Tony, Mike and Chris George; and her beloved cat, "Mittens".
