Jerry was a warm personality, known for his wit and charm. As a founding member of the Wyoming Valley Rod & Gun Club, he was an avid and skilled outdoorsman. He spent countless weekends among friends and family slamming bass, deer hunting, and making his signature chicken wing pizza or snapping turtle chowder at his cabin in Wyalusing.
He loved hunting trips to Maine, where “the pavement ends”.
He was an incredible cook. You may have tried his pizza at his bar and restaurant, Sulkoski’s Long Haul in Port Griffith, where he paid tribute to his mining heritage while showcasing his culinary talents and creative genius.
He was always the life of the party; first in the Conga line, usually shirtless. We all orbited around him as the center of our universe, till his last day. It came just shy of his 50 year anniversary to his lovingly devoted wife Jule, who kept him anchored. A dynamic duo!
He was a man of many talents. He enjoyed wine making, woodworking, mushroom picking, renovating old homes, restoring a 59 Chevy, and gardening, to name a few. He captured many blue ribbons at the Luzerne County Fair for his enormous pumpkins.
He was the epitome of a hard worker, with a successful 38 year career as the Director of Plant Operations at the United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village.
Raising 6 kids you would wonder where he found the time. The truth is he made the time by forgoing sleep, fueled by his children and then his grandchildren. He lit up in their presence, his voice going up a few octaves when he spoke to them, a true softie; our everything.
