Mr. John Carl Minarik, 62, formerly of North Wilkes-Barre and presently a resident of Swoyersville, passed unexpectedly into Eternal Life Monday, April 14th as an emergency patient of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born on Sunday, September 30, 1962 in Wilkes-Barre, he was one of three children to the late John J. and Rosemary P. (Ott) Minarik.
Educated in the city schools, John was a 1980 graduate of the former James M. Coughlin Memorial High School and the Wilkes-Barre Area Vocational-Technical School.
Prior to his formal retirement, John was employed as a masonry contractor for several construction companies in the Wyoming Valley.
In his younger days, John was an avid softball player and played for several teams each week during the summer months.
In his spare time, he was a well known member of several social clubs and participated in a number of dart leagues in both Wilkes-Barre and Plains Township. His presence and demeanor will be missed by those who knew and befriended him.
Left to cherish all the memories collected of him over the years are his beloved companion of thirty-five years, Ms. Betty Lou Connell of Plains Township; his sons John Minarik and his companion Jennifer Sienkiewicz of Nanticoke and Clay Minarik of Edwardsville; Grandson, Brendon Minarik; His sister, Jane Minarik-Cook and his brother Michael R. Minarik along with his companion Karen Polkowski, all of North Wilkes-Barre; Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Relatives and friends may join John's family for a time of visitation and shared remembrances on Sunday, May 4th, 2025 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
