Mrs. Katherine A. Williamson, known best as Kathy to family and friends; age 86, a former resident of both Dover and Wilkes-Barre; passed into Eternal Life in the early morning hours of Friday, June 14th following a brief illness while in the care of Normandie Ridge Health and Skilled Nursing Center, York with her daughter by her side.
Born on Friday, September 17, 1937 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the only child to the late Attorney Herman J. and Helen Sieber. Educated in the Catholic faith, Mrs. Williamson was a 1955 graduate of the former Saint Ann's Academy in the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre. She later furthered her education by attaining Bachelor of Arts degrees from the George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
Family was the focal point of Kathy's life and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the three generations of children she loving nurtured into adulthood and witnessing their individual successes in life.
Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by a son James on February 14, 1986; by infant great-grandchildren, James G. Lara in 2014; Gianna Brenneman in 2022; Monica Brenneman in 2024; and by her beloved husband, James R. Williamson, on April 15, 2019. At the time of Dr. Williamson's passing, the couple shared sixty-one years of married life together.
Left to embrace all the wonderful memories they keep of their mother are her children, Virginia Poindexter and her husband Dennis of Potomac Falls, VA; Laurie R. Forsythe and her husband Thomas of Dover, PA; Marie Quinn and her husband Edward of Cape Coral, FL; Christine Bernard and her husband David of Surgarland, TX; Joseph G. Williamson and his wife Margaret of New Oxford; Alexandra Crane and her husband John of Batesville, IN and Mark J. Williamson of Pittston; Eighteen grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williamson will be conducted on Thursday, June 20th with a Requiem Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael the Archangel Parish, 1703 Jackson Street, Scranton. The Reverend Christopher Mahowald, F.S.S.P., pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble directly at church by 10:30 a.m.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary's Diocesan Catholic Cemetery, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to join the Williamson family for visitation and shared remembrances Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
