Mr. Kevin T. Hockenbury, 37, a resident of Jenkins Township, formerly of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life unexpectedly Sunday, the afternoon of April 30, 2023 at his residence.
Born on Sunday, January 26, 1986 in the former Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston, Kevin was the son of Margaret "Maggie" (Novakoski) Zavislak and Kenny Hockenbury.
Educated in the West Side schools, he attended the Wyoming Valley West Vocational-Technical School in Pringle.
Prior to his untimely passing, Kevin was employed for the past four years as a service technician with Aaron's Rental Company locally.
In his spare time and enjoying the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing and spending time around the fire pit with family and friends. His greatest passion however, was spending time with his children and family. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Harold E. Hockenbury in 2006; by maternal grandmother, Marjorie (Lushefski) Novakoski in 1994 and most recently by his maternal grandfather, Bernard W. Novakoski in 2017.
Left to cherish his memory in addition to his parents; Margaret Zavislak and her husband Michael of Hanover Township and Saint Augustine, FL and Ken Hockenbury and his wife Joan of Swoyersville; are his children including Nicholas Moshey; Hailey Hockenbury; Lana Hockenbury; Liliana Hockenbury and Emily Hockenbury; Step-children, John Kerestes and Gabby Migatulski; Paternal grandmother, Theresa (Wilkes) Hockenbury; Brothers and Sisters; Stacey Fetterman and her husband Eric; Michael Zavislak and his wife Janina; Mark Zavislak and his wife Katherine; Michelle Guilbeault and her husband Tim; James Quinn and his wife Rachael; Stephanie Quinn; Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, fellow employees; dear friends and fur sister, Sunshine.
Memorial funeral services will be conducted for Kevin on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Richard J. Cirba, pastor of Exaltation of the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Parish, Buttonwood section of Hanover Township, will serve as celebrant and homilist.
Relatives and friends may join the family for visitation and shared remembrances from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of Kevin's family.
