With sorrowful hearts and so many wonderful memories, we announce the passing of Ms. Kimberly A. (Colorusso) Yankovich, 58, of Swoyersville, formerly of Wilkes-Barre.
Kim passed into eternal life Monday, November 24th while in the care of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Pavilion location in center city Philadelphia after battling prolonged heart health issues for several years.
Born on Thursday, February 2, 1967 in Wilkes-Barre, she was one of three children to the late Richard and Dolores D. (Estock) Colorusso.
Educated in the city schools, Kim was a 1985 graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Prior to her illness, Kim was employed in the environmental services department at Wilkes University for several years. She found great joy in her work, ensuring that the campus was always safe and welcoming while contributing to the health and wellbeing of staff and students alike. Previously in her youth, she was employed as a customer service representative for both the Hills and Ames department stores locally. Her commitment to her work and her compassionate nature inspired many who had the privilege of knowing her.
Likewise, her commitment to service was reflected in her values, as she cherished time spent with her loved ones. She relished family gatherings for birthdays; enjoyed summer cookouts and especially loved the warmth and togetherness of the forthcoming holidays. Sundays during football season were sacred, as she dedicated her afternoons to cheering on her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
Despite the challenges life presented, Kimberly faced them with an unwavering spirit and a smile that could light up the darkest of days. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the loved she bestowed upon her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Mr. Richard Colorusso on August 26, 1998 and later by her mom, Dolores D. (Estock) Colorusso on June 4, 2016.
She will always be remembered as the best mother to her children, James Yankovich and his wife Brittany of West Pittston; Holly Green of Olyphant and Melissa Yankovich and her wife Jessica, with whom she resided in Swoyersville. She was the most amazing grandmother to Emilee, Adison, Abigail, Brenna and Elia while being a wonderful sister to Richard Colorusso and his wife Michelle of Hanover Township and Renee Richardson, along with her husband Michael of Wilkes-Barre. She also leaves to mourn her passing several aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services for Kimberly will be conducted on Monday, December 1st at 12:30 p.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary's Diocesan Roman Catholic Cemetery, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township.
Relatives and friends may join the Yankovich and Colorusso families for visitation and shared remembrances Monday morning at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
