Mrs. Lorraine A. (Shepko) Banas, 74, a resident of White Haven, formerly of Mountain Top, passed peacefully into Eternal Life early Tuesday morning in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center with her beloved husband Bernie at her bedside following a recent illness.
Born March 7, 1947 in Plains Township, she was the last of three children to the late John and Anna (Hrabovsky) Shepko. She attended the Plains schools.
Following her formal education, Mrs. Banas took employment as a seamstress with the valley's former garment industry. More recently, she and her husband owned and operated Koala Delivery Service for fourteen years prior to their retirement. Professionally, she held membership in the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. In the family's spare time, she enjoyed the many camping and fishing trips they would take over the years with the couple's daughters and close friends.
Above all, Mrs. Banas is remembered as being a loving, devoted wife, mother and "MeeMee" to her adoring family. Her physical presence will be greatly missed by all those she touched in this life.
She and her husband, Mr. Bernard M. Banas celebrated fifty-one years of married life together on August 16th of last year.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Theresa Krushinski and by her brother, Mr. John Shepko Jr.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories they hold of her, in addition to her husband Bernie at home, are daughters and their spouses, Janine M. and her husband Douglas K. Fawbush and April A. along with her husband Anthony P. Cariot, all of Mountain Top; Grandchildren, Julia and Noah Fawbush and Kroy Cariot; Several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Per her previous request, funeral services for Mrs. Banas will be held privately and at the convenience of her family with no formal visitation.
