Marietta Sninsky Obituary

With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Marietta (Berlew) Sninsky, who left this world peacefully and in the comfort of her home at the age of 76 on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Born on Tuesday, October 18, 1949, in Wilkes-Barre, Marietta was one of ten children to the late Ernest and Marie (Hobbs) Berlew.  Educated in the city schools, she was a 1967 graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.  It was following her formal education she would meet and eventually marry Mr. Jon A. Sninsky on August 22, 1970.  The couple would share forty-eight years of married life together until Mr. Sninsky's passing on October 7, 2018.

Mrs. Sninsky began her career as a key punch operator locally.  She later would take employment as a line assembler in food service for the Nardone Brothers Baking Company in Hanover Township for a number of years until her retirement.

Raised in the Roman Catholic faith, she previously held membership in the former Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, North Wilkes-Barre.

Fraternally, she held membership in the Wilkes-Barre Area Queens Council of the Red Hat Society; Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans and the North End Slovak Citizens Club, North Wilkes-Barre.

Above all, Marietta spent her life dedicated to her family and her work. She took great pride in her contributions and was a steadfast support for her co-workers and friends.  Her presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her beloved husband Jon, she bid farewell to a sister, Mrs. Kay Zellock and brothers; Keith, Ernest and Craig Berlew.

Left to cherish the memories they keep of her are her children, Jon A. Jr. and Leslie Sninsky of Cape Coral, FL; Jennifer Sninsky and her fiance, Thomas Flannery of Wilkes-Barre; Jason and Mary Sninsky of Moscow and Chris Sninsky along with his wife Ashley of Hanover Township;  Seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;  Sisters, Mrs. Carol Burke and her husband Thomas of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Donna Berlew and her wife Kimberly of Forty-Fort; Joanne Smith of Plains; Brothers, Mr. Jeff Berlew of Wyoming and Mr. Homer Berlew and wife Sandy of Shavertown;  Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, former co-workers and dear friends.

Per her previous request, funeral services for Mrs. Sninsky will be held privately and at the convenience of her family with no formal visitation.
