Mrs. Marsha L. (Zimmerman) Gelsleichter, 57, a resident of the Rolling Mill Hill section of Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life peacefully Easter Sunday afternoon in the comfort of her residence with her beloved family at her bedside.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 22, 1963, she was one of two children to the late Earl R. and Martha Jean (Elmy) Zimmerman. Educated in the city schools, Marsha was a graduate of the Elmer L. Meyers High School, class of 1981. She later furthered her education toward her career by attaining an associate degree in nursing from the Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke.
Prior to illness causing her retirement, Marsha was employed as a registered nurse with the Visiting Nurses Association in the Wilkes-Barre area. Previously, she began her nursing career at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.
Marsha is remembered by those who knew and loved her as being a wonderfully devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother to her adoring family. Her physical presence will be greatly missed by all those she touched in this life.
She is the beloved wife of Mr. Robert Gelsleichter Jr., with whom, celebrated thirty-one wonderful years of marriage on November 10th of last year. Their marital bond was in itself a love story strengthened twice over the years by the renewal of their vows on both their tenth and twenty-fifth wedding anniversaries in Cancun, Mexico.
In her spare time, she enjoyed weekend card games at her in-laws, Rich and Susan Wiencek’s home. A doting grandma, she relished the time spent with her two grandchildren and the trips they would make to Knoebels amusement park together. She especially enjoyed the annual vacation trips she and Bob would make to Cancun, becoming "regulars" at their favorite restaurants.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Susan Marie Wiencek on July 19, 2016.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories they hold of her in addition to her husband Bob at home are the couple's children Robert John Gelsleichter III and his companion, Jennifer Dixon of Wilkes-Barre; Mandy Lane and her companion Sean Farrell of Mountain Top; Grandchildren, Grace Lynn and Brent Matthew Gelsleichter; Brother, Earl R.
