Mrs. Martha (Gdovin) Lisofsky, 95, formerly a well known and respected resident of North Wilkes-Barre and Exeter, passed into eternal life the morning of Sunday, December 29, 2024 while in the care of the Kingston Rehabilitation and Nursing Center; following a recent illness.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on Monday, February 18, 1929, she was one of five children to the late John and Helen (Hudak) Gdovin.  Educated in the Roman Catholic faith, Mrs. Lisofsky was a graduate of the former Saint Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre; class of 1947.

Following her education, she began her career in the area's shoe industry, working for the former Rosen Shoe Company.  She later took employment in the local hospitality profession working as a waitress for both the Spa, downtown and Dukey's Cafe in Wilkes-Barre's Brookside neighborhood. Later in life, she worked in the hospitality shop in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Family and faith were the cornerstones of Mrs. Lisofsky's life.  She will forever be remembered as a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her adoring family; who instilled a solid work ethic and devotion to our Lord.

She was preceded in death by a young daughter, Susan Lisofsky in 1963.  She also bid farewell to her son-in-law, Mr. Robert Pericci in 1995; her husband of sixty-five years, Mr. Edward F. Lisofsky in 2016, as well as several siblings, their spouses and family.

Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they keep of their mother are her children; Patricia Pericci of Exeter, with whom she recently resided; Thomas E. Lisofsky and his wife Faith of Plains Township and Mark E. Lisofsky, of Shavertown;  Five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; Her sister, Mrs. Helen Blizman of North Wilkes-Barre; Several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
