Miss Mary Alice Isganitis, 81, formerly of Hanover Township, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, at The Gardens at East Mountain, Plains Township.
Born in Hanover Township, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Eleanor (Sawicki) Isganitis. She was a graduate of Hanover High School, Class of 1959, and received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Wilkes College in 1963. Mary Alice continued her education and in 1972 received her master's from Newark State and in 1973 received her superintendent certificate. Prior to her retirement in 2002 she was an elementary teacher in the Jersey Shore School District of New Jersey for over 40 years. After retiring, she relocated to her familial roots in Hanover Township.
Preceding her in death were her brothers, Frank Jr., Joseph and John Isganitis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24th in Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish, 143 W. Division Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend Richard J. Cirba, pastor, serving as celebrant and homilist.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to service time Wednesday directly in the church.
