Mr. Michael L. Popovich, 73, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, son of the late Michael A. and Rose C. (Kopec) Popovich. Educated in the city schools, he was a member of the 1969 graduating class of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. Following his formal education, Michael went on to serve our country in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by the former B.F. Goodrich Company of Exeter for 20 years and most recently at CertainTeed in Mountain Top for 25 years.
Michael was an avid outdoors man. In his free time, he liked to hunt, fish and thoroughly loved teaching his daughters the sport of fishing. Michael was an avid fan of his beloved Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles football and baseball teams.
His presence will be sorely missed by his beloved wife, Patricia (Degnan) Popovich. Patti and Mike recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February. He will also be greatly missed by his three adoring daughters, Kimberly Ann Danelutt, Forty Fort; Amanda Mary (Peter) Erndl, Millstone, N.J.; Michelle Patrice Popovich, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Colin Michael Danelutt, Sophia Rose Marie Danelutt, Peter Brendan Erndl III, Logan Alexander Erndl, Olivia Patrice Callahan and Scarlet May Callahan; sisters, Marcie Buckles, Johnson City, Tenn.; and Debbie (Thomas) Benczkowski, Hudson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Immaculate Conception Church of Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, with Monsignor John J. Sempa, pastor, serving as celebrant. Those attending are asked to assemble directly at church by 10:45 a.m. the morning of Mass.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre.
