Nancy Jacobs Obituary

It is with a sense of sadness we announce the passing of a beautiful woman; devoted wife and mother to several generations of children.
Mrs. Nancy D. (Yencha) Jacobs, 92, a resident of Kingston, passed into Eternal Life peacefully Sunday, the morning of January 4, 2026 while in the care of Third Avenue Health Care Center, Kingston, following a recent illness.
Born on Sunday, June 11, 1933 in Wilkes-Barre, she was one of seven children to the late John and Mary (Witzak) Yencha of North Wilkes-Barre.
Educated in the city schools, she was a 1951 graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.  She later furthered her education by taking courses at the Wilkes-Barre Business College.
Mrs. Jacobs began her employment experience with the Eberhard Faber Company of Mountain Top.  She later worked at the Convenient Food Mart of Kingston; where she garnered many regular customers she called "friends".  The majority of her professional duties were spent serving as secretary for the Municipality of Kingston for over 15 years.
Devoted to her Roman Catholic faith, she held membership in Saint Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Kingston, where she was a member of the parish Altar and Rosary Society.  She also volunteered at the Saint Vincent de Paul Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre for many years.
Nancy was the cornerstone of her family.  Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply.  She was known for incredible kindness, infectious laughter and the ability to make everyone welcome.
She will also be remembered for her summertime nightly front porch gatherings where friends and neighbors would share stories, conversations and many laughs.
Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by her husband, former Hoyt Library Chairman, Mr. Robert Feinmore Jacobs on November 20, 1994; by a son, Michael F. "Spike" Jacobs on July 26, 2014; a step-daughter, Sharon Morgan; Granddaughters, Melissa and Beth Morgan; Brothers and Sisters including; Mrs. Elizabeth Baum; Mrs. Mary Ann Jones; Mr. John M. Yencha Sr.; Mr. Richard D. Yencha Sr.; Mr. Michael (Mickey) Yencha Sr.; Several nieces and nephews.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they keep of her are her son, Robert Jacobs Jr. and his wife Jackie along with Daughter-in-law, Dawn Rattigan, all of Kingston; Grandchildren, including Kamri Ramirez and her husband Jordan of Hunlock Creek; Bobby and Andie Jacobs and their son Brody Michael of Hughesville; Great-grandson, Jimmy Morgan of Hope Mills, N.C.; Sister, Mrs. Geri Yencha Goldberg of Boca Raton, Florida; Countless cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the nurses and staff of Third Avenue Health Care Center for the professional loving care shown Mrs. Jacobs especially in her final days.
Funeral services with Liturgy of the Word for Mrs. Jacobs will be conducted on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street.  The Reverend Monsignor David L. Tressler, pastor of Saint Ignatius Loyola will serve as celebrant and homilist.
Entombment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations in Mrs. Jacob's memory would be greatly appreciated for the Saint Vincent de Paul Kitchen, 39 East Jackson Street, Wilkes-Barre or to the Saint Ignatius Altar and Rosary Society, 339 North Maple Avenue, Kingston.
