Mr. Norman J. Magda, 72, a resident of Ashley, passed into eternal life unexpectedly at his residence early Monday morning.
Born October 19, 1945 in Kingston, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Julia (Ontko) Magda. Educated in the city schools, he was a graduate of the former Saint Nicholas High School, class of 1963. He later furthered his education towards his vocation by attending both the Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke and King's College, Wilkes-Barre, earning an associates degree in information technologies.
Until his retirement, Norman was employed as a systems analyst for the former Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre and later for Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, attending various local flea markets and especially spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
He and his companion, Ms. Geri George, celebrated forty-five years of life together. In addition to Geri, he is survived by sons, Christopher George and his wife Kerry of Ashley, Michael George and his wife Jodi of Norristown and Tony George and his wife Erin of Plains Township; Grandchildren, including Michael, Christopher (Auggie), Emma, Ally, Casey, Matthew and Harrison George; A brother, Mr. Joseph Magda and his wife Mary Anne of Hazleton; An aunt, several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Magda will be private and at the convenience of his family from the Wilkes-Barre Heights location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 281 East Northampton Street. There will be no public calling hours.
