Miss Ruth Anne Visoky, 66, formerly of North Wilkes-Barre and Plains Township, passed peacefully early the morning of Friday, February 28th while in the care of Maple Ridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kingston; following a recent illness.
Born on Monday, December 8, 1958 in Akron Ohio, Ruthie was one of two children to Mrs. Anne Mae (Lorenz) Visoky, of Plains Township and the late Reverend Paul Visoky; former pastor of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre.
Educated in the city schools, she was a 1976 graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. Miss Visoky then furthered her education by attaining a Bachelor's degree in education from Bloomsburg University in 1980.
Until her retirement, Ruth was employed for some thirty years as a counselor for the United Rehabilitation Services, Inc. of Wilkes-Barre.
Devoted to her Christian faith, she held lifelong membership in Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre and also previously attended Saint Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hanover Township.
In her spare time, Ruthie loved assisting her mother by attending various craft and antique shows throughout the region for many years.
Ruth is remembered by those who knew and loved her for her quiet demeanor and loving spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, the Reverend Paul Visoky at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic on April 24, 2020.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they keep of her in addition to her beloved mother, Mrs. Anne Mae Visoky at home are her brother, Paul John Visoky of Falls; numerous cousins, fellow congregation members and dear friends.
Funeral services for Miss Visoky will be conducted on Monday, March 3rd at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 663 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Peter J. Haenftling, pastor, will serve as leader of worship.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot of Saint Matthew's Lawn section of Fern Knoll Burial Park, Midland Avenue, Dallas.
Relatives and friends wishing to attend may join the family for visitation and shared remembrances directly at church Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
