Ms. Sandra A. "Sandi" Groszewski, 51, a resident of Plains Township, passed unexpectedly into Eternal Life Tuesday afternoon in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital shortly after arrival.
Born October 1, 1969 in Tunkhannock, she was the daughter to Mrs. Linda L. (Hester) Groszewski-Jones, and the late Mr. John E. "Jack" Groszewski.
Educated in the city schools, she was a 1987 graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. She later earned an Associate’s Degree in Human Services from the Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke, and an Associate’s Degree in electronic medical records from the McCann School of Business and Technology. She later furthered her education by attaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services from the Columbia Southern University.
Sandi was employed in human resources for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre for nine years. Prior to that, she was employed as a receptionist for Eye Care Specialists of Kingston for several years.
Above all things, Sandi is remembered as being a loving, devoted daughter, mother and friend. She had a deep spirit of generosity who was always so giving of her time to anyone in need. Her presence will be greatly missed by all those she touched in this life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack in 2000. Left to cherish the memories they hold of her in addition to her mother Linda, at home, are her beloved daughter, Deanna L. Groszewski of Wilkes-Barre; Brother, Adam Miller, his wife Melanie and their son Declan of Lehman Township; Sisters, Tammy Heck of Hanover Township and Jennifer Groszewski of Akron, Ohio; Aunt, Sharon Tobin of Plains Township; Several cousins and dear friends, including Laura St. Clair and her husband Andy, also of Plains.
There will be a memorial gathering of family and friends to celebrate Sandi's life next Saturday, February 27th at the Amber Palace, 228 George Avenue, Wilkes-Barre from noon until 2:00 p.m.
