Mr. Theodore A. "Ted" Sherrill, 89, a lifelong resident of Plymouth, passed into Eternal Life peacefully the evening of Wednesday, April 2nd while in the care of Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre, following a recent illness.
Born on Monday, August 12, 1935 in Plymouth, he was one of three sons to the late Orville and Alberta (Gonsecki) Sherrill.
Educated in the Catholic faith, Mr. Sherrill was a 1955 graduate of the former Marymount High School in Wilkes-Barre.
In his youth, he proudly served our country being a member of the Army Reserves with the Pennsylvania National Guard for several years.
He began his career being owner and operator of Paul and Sherrill Concrete Company of Plymouth for a number of years before taking employment as a machinist for the Valley Manufacturing Company on Hazle Street in Wilkes-Barre, from where he formally retired.
Devoted to his Roman Catholic faith, Ted was a lifelong member of the former Saint Stephen's Parish prior to its closure and subsequent merger as All Saints Parish of Plymouth. At both parishes, he served as a dedicated lector and extraordinary minister of Holy Communion.
Fraternally, he held active membership as a third degree knight with Plymouth Council #11901 of the Knights of Columbus.
He and his wife, the former Helen A. (Kocis) Sherrill, would have celebrated sixty-eight years of married life this June 22nd.
Mr. Sherrill was preceded in death by a by a grandson, Michael Sherrill on July 27, 2006 and a brother, Mr. Edward Sherrill on May 2, 2023.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they keep of him, in addition to his beloved wife Helen at home, are the couple's children including Theodore A. Sherrill Jr. and his wife Donna of Swoyersville; Michael Sherrill and his wife Mary of Larksville; John Sherrill and his wife Cindy of Larksville; Joseph Sherrill and his companion Sandee Shook also of Larksville and daughter, Patricia Klus along with her husband David of West Wyoming; Six grandchildren; Five great-grandchildren; Brother, Mr. Raymond Sherrill and his wife Joan of Swoyersville; Several nieces, nephews, fellow parishioners and dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Sherrill will be conducted on Monday, April 7th with his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in All Saints Parish, 66 Willow Street, Plymouth. The Reverend Gerald J. Gurka, pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Stephen's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Jackson Street, Lehman Township.
Relatives and friends may join the Sherrill family for visitation and shared remembrances directly at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
