Victor Bianconi Obituary

Mr. Victor M. Bianconi, 92, a resident of Provincial Towers, midtown Wilkes-Barre, passed peacefully into eternal life late Sunday evening while in the care of Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing Center, following a recent illness.

Born on Wednesday, July 31, 1929 in Sugar Notch, he was the last of four children to the late Vincent James and Santina (Morelle) Bianconi.  Educated in the Sugar Notch schools, he was a 1947 graduate of the former Sugar Notch High School.

Following his formal education, Mr. Bianconi became employed in the valley's former shoe industry, working for the Frye Boot and Flair Shoe companies.  He later took employment at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station in Salem Township for several years.  After his retirement, Victor did not sit idly by.  He then became a courier for Bio Medical Labs of Kingston for several years.

In his spare time and being a lover of the outdoors, Mr. Bianconi took pride in his seasonal vegetable gardens he would lovingly cultivate each year. Despite his enjoyment in learning how to make homemade wines from his father, he became famous for his spaghetti sauce, which was his way of bringing his family together for a good Italian meal and sharing stories.

Family was the focal point of his life.  His is most remembered as being a loving devoted husband and father to the several generations of children he was blessed to meet and know.  His presence will truly be missed by all those who loved him in this life.

He and his wife, the former Elizabeth "Betty" (Drevenak) Bianconi celebrated forty-one years of married life together on October 4th of last year.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Catherine (Murphy) Bianconi in 1980 and their infant daughter Rose Marie; also by sisters, Mrs. Nellie Staffaroni and Mrs. Lillian B. Weaver as well as by his brother, Mr. Cyril Bianconi.

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his beloved Betty at home are children Ann Marie S. Lawson and her husband Norris of Hunlock Creek; Sharon Ellis and her companion Sue Unvarsky of Sugar Notch; Karen Griffith and her husband Bob of Wilkes-Barre; Pete Lynch and his wife Ann of Swoyersville; Gary Ankner of Wilkes-Barre; Bobby Ankner and his wife Debbie of Warrior Run; Mark Ankner of Ashley; Eighteen grandchildren; Twenty-six great-grandchildren; One great-great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Bianconi will be conducted on Saturday, June 11th at 1:00 p.m. in Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 316 South Mountain Boulevard, Mountain Top.  The Reverend Michele Kaufman, pastor will serve as celebrant and leader of worship.  Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join the Bianconi family for visitation and shared remembrances directly at church from 12 noon until the time of services.

In lieu of floral tributes, Victor's family would be humbled if those wishing to make a monetary donation in their father's memory, kindly consider Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital,  262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org.
