Vincent B. Szykman Jr.

 Vincent B. Szykman Jr., 57, a resident of Blakeslee, Monroe County, passed into eternal life unexpectedly early Thursday morning at his residence, with friends by his side.

     Vince was born and raised in the North End of Wilkes-Barre and was the eldest of three sons to the late Vincent and Theresa (Gola) Szykman. 

     Educated in the city schools, Vince was a graduate of the 1980 class of the James M. Coughlin High School, he then later graduated from the Pennsylvania State University Wilkes-Barre Commonwealth Campus with Distinction and Honors.  

     Following graduation he began his a career as an engineer with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and then followed other career endeavors.

     Vince was known for marching to a beat of his own drum, with a love for automotive restoration, hunting, fishing and spending time with his beloved dog, PD, a Jack Russell Terrier.

   He was preceded in death by his mom, Theresa in 1986, and more recently, by his father, Vincent Sr. exactly four years prior to his own passing, in 2016.

      Vince will always be remembered by his family and close friends as a brother and friend who made life interesting.

     Left to cherish and reflect on his memory are his companion, Ms. Paula Zaremba, at home; Brothers, Paul Szykman, and wife, Cheryl of Reinholds, PA and James Szykman, and wife, Lisa along with Benjamin and Kathryn Szykman,  niece and nephew, of  Williamsburg, VA.

     Funeral services for Vince will be private and at the convenience of his family due to the current health crisis.  Interment will be at the family lot of Saint Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Cemetery of Saint Andre Bessette Parish, Cemetery and Blanchard Streets, Plains Township.  There will be no formal visitation.
