William Martin Obituary

Mr. William M. "Bill" Martin, 73, a resident of Mountain Top, passed peacefully into eternal life Wednesday evening while in the care of Kingston Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Kingston, following a recent illness.

Born September 22, 1948 in Wilkes-Barre, he was one of five children to the late Thomas and Florence (Gray) Martin.  Educated in the city schools, he attended the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

Following his formal education, Bill attained his commercial driver license with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  He was previously employed as a regional truck driver for Roadway and Friedman Express as well as for the former Sunshine Market.  Until his retirement however, Bill was employed in facility management with Wilkes University for some twenty-two years.

His professional affiliations included membership in the Teamsters Local #401 of Wilkes-Barre.  In his spare time, he was an avid Washington Football fan.

Raised in the Catholic faith, Bill previously attended Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre Township, and more recently attended Saint Jude Roman Catholic Parish following the family's relocation to Mountain Top.

Above all else, Bill is remembered as being a family man; a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- pop-pop to his adoring family. He and his wife, the former Rose Ann Kosakowski celebrated fifty-three years of married life together this past June 8th.  His presence will be missed by all those he touched while in this life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; Thomas Martin, and more recently by John Martin three months ago.

Left to treasure his memory in addition to his beloved wife Rose Ann at home, are the couples' sons; William M. Martin of Plymouth; Jeffrey M. Martin and his wife Jill of the Honey Pot section of Nanticoke; Scott M. Martin of Mountain Lake and Todd M. Martin along with his wife Rosemary of Mountain Top; Twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; Brother, Mr. Richard Martin of Wilkes-Barre and sister, Mrs. Sandra McDade of Miners Mills; Numerous nieces, nephews, former co-workers and dear friends.

Per his previous request, funeral services for Bill will be held privately and at the convenience of his family.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations in Bill's memory would be greatly appreciated toward the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to www.stjude.org.
